Welcome to Latinos in Pittsburgh!

My name is Ignacio Arana, and I created this bilingual website to provide useful information about Latino businesses, services, and communities in the Greater Pittsburgh region. You will also find advice for navigating challenges, as well as helpful content on immigration, annual festivities, and tourism. Pittsburgh offers many opportunities for learning, working, and living a fulfilling life, and I hope this site helps you make the most of them.

Although Latinos make up just 3% of Allegheny County’s population—compared to the national average of 19%—our community in Pittsburgh is vibrant, active, and engaged in a wide range of activities. If you would like to suggest a business, service, community group, tourist spot, or festivity to feature on this site,  please email me at ignacioarana.a@gmail.com, and I will update the lists promptly. Please note that I only include businesses or organizations that have a website.

Clarifications:

— I did not receive any funding to create this website and do not earn financial compensation through advertising.

— I cannot guarantee the quality of the businesses and services listed, but I hope you have a positive experience with them.

Author: I am an Assistant Professor at the Carnegie Mellon Institute for Strategy and Technology at CMU, where I teach and conduct research on comparative politics, Latin America, national leaders, political psychology, and political institutions. This project would not have been possible without the valuable research and assistance of  Jesús Vera, Ignacia Barthou Gatica, Xitai Wang, and Natalia Hernández. Vidar Nordli-Mathisen took the photograph.
